The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); (1) Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed (2) on unrolled parchment, (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) The roof raised high, (5) And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- (6) the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place (7) none can avert that. (8) [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, (9) and the mountains are in motion, (10) Then woe that Day to the beliers; (11) Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. (12) A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. (13) (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. (14) Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! (15) Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. (16) Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. (17) rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. (18) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." (19) They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. (20) And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. (21) We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. (22) There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. (23) ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. (24) And some of them draw near to others, questioning. (25) They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. (26) But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. (27) We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. (28)
