The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); (1) and a Book inscribed (2) in a parchment unrolled, (3) by the House inhabited (4) And the lofty roof. (5) And the swollen sea, (6) Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- (7) There is none that can avert it; (8) On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. (9) And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. (10) woe that day unto those that cry lies, (11) who divert themselves with idle chatter: (12) On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire (13) This is the fire which you used to deny. (14) Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? (15) “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. (18) Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. (19) They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. (20) And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. (21) And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. (23) ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. (24) They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (25) "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- (26) God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- (27) "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" (28)
