The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the mount (1) And the Book written (2) In parchment spread open (3) And the House frequented, (4) And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). (5) And [by] the sea filled [with fire], (6) the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, (7) there is none to prevent it. (8) The day the sky will tremble, (9) And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, (10) So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. (13) "This is the Fire which you used to deny. (14) Is it magic then or do you not see? (15) Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. (16) As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- (17) talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. (18) “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” (19) Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. (20) And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. (21) We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. (22) There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. (23) ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. (24) They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (25) Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: (26) "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. (27) "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" (28)
