The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. (1) By a Decree inscribed (2) In parchment unrolled. (3) by the established House (Mecca), (4) by the high ceiling (heaven), (5) and by the swelling ocean, (6) verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, (7) No one can avert it. (8) Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily (9) And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). (10) So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] (13) This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. (14) Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? (15) Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. (16) As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- (17) Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. (18) (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” (19) They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. (20) And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. (21) And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. (24) They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). (25) They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, (26) but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. (27) “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” (28)
