The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (1) by the book (Torah) written (2) In an outstretched fine parchment, (3) And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); (4) And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). (5) And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). (6) Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- (7) There is none can avert it;- (8) Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily (9) And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, (10) Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers (11) Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. (12) That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. (13) "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! (14) What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? (15) Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' (16) Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. (18) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." (19) Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. (20) We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. (21) We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. (22) There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, (23) ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. (24) And they will advance unto each other asking questions. (25) Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: (26) but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. (27) Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
