The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; (1) Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed (2) in a parchment unrolled, (3) And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); (4) and by the lofty vault of the sky, (5) and by the swelling sea: (6) Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- (7) and no one will be able to prevent it. (8) Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily (9) The mountains move and fly away, (10) Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, (11) those who are in plunging, playing. (12) The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. (13) "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! (14) Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? (15) Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” (16) Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss (17) Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. (18) 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. (19) Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. (20) And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). (23) ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. (24) They will ask each other questions, (25) They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. (26) So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. (27) Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
