The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount; (1) And the Scripture inscribed (2) on parchment for distribution, (3) by the established House (Mecca), (4) by the elevated canopy; (5) And the sea kept filled, (6) Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, (7) There is none who could avert it. (8) (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, (9) and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. (10) woe that day unto those that cry lies, (11) who divert themselves with idle chatter: (12) On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. (13) This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. (14) “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” (15) Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. (16) Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. (17) Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. (18) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, (19) Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. (20) To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire (22) They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. (23) ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. (24) They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (25) They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. (26) "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. (27) Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" (28)
