The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, (1) by the book (Torah) written (2) on fine parchment; (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) and the roof uplifted (5) And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). (6) surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, (7) There is none can avert it;- (8) On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly (9) And the mountains will pass on, departing - (10) Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers (11) and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). (12) The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. (13) 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! (14) Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! (15) “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” (16) As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- (17) rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. (18) “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” (19) Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. (20) And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. (21) And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. (22) There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. (23) ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. (24) And they will advance unto each other asking questions. (25) They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
