The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), (1) and by the Scripture penned (2) on wide-open scrolls. (3) by the House inhabited (4) by the high ceiling (heaven), (5) And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). (6) Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. (7) there is no one who could avert it, (8) The day the sky will tremble, (9) and the mountains move, moving. (10) Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers (11) Those who sport entering into vain discourses. (12) On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): (13) "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! (14) Then is this magic, or do you not see? (15) Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” (16) Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. (17) Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. (18) "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," (19) They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. (20) And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. (21) And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. (22) They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. (23) ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. (24) And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. (25) They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, (26) "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. (27) "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" (28)
