The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of (mount) Tur. (1) By a Decree inscribed (2) In an outstretched fine parchment, (3) by the established House (Mecca), (4) and the roof uplifted (5) and the sea swarming, (6) Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- (7) there is none to avert it. (8) A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. (9) And the mountains will pass on, departing - (10) On that Day woe to those who belied (11) all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain (12) The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell (13) "This is the Fire which you used to deny. (14) What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? (15) Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. (16) Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. (17) Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. (18) 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. (19) reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. (20) And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. (23) ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. (24) They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (25) saying, "We were afraid while in the world. (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!"
