The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (Sinai), (1) and by the Book in lines (2) In parchment spread open (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) And [by] the heaven raised high (5) And [by] the sea filled [with fire], (6) Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls (7) there is no one who could avert it, (8) On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, (9) And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). (10) So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. (11) all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain (12) On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. (13) "This is the Fire which you used to deny. (14) "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? (15) Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." (16) Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, (17) Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. (18) Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. (19) reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. (20) And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. (21) And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. (22) They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. (23) ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. (24) They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). (25) They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, (26) But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. (27) Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” (28)
