The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (1) And the Book written (2) On an open record. (3) by the much-visited House, (4) and the uplifted roof (5) and by the swelling sea: (6) Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; (7) Of it there is no averter. (8) On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. (9) And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, (10) woe that day unto those that cry lies, (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell (13) "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! (14) Then is this magic, or do you not see? (15) Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." (16) Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, (17) rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. (18) (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' (19) They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. (20) And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). (23) ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. (24) They will turn to one another ask questions, (25) They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' (28)
