The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; (1) And the Book written (2) On fine parchment unrolled, (3) The house ever-peopled, (4) by the elevated canopy; (5) And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- (6) verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, (7) There is none who could avert it. (8) On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly (9) And the mountains will fly hither and thither. (10) Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, (11) Those who are playing in pursuits. (12) A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. (13) “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” (14) Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! (15) Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” (16) Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, (17) rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, (18) "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." (19) The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. (20) And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. (21) And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. (22) They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. (23) ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. (24) They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (25) They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). (26) "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. (27) Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' (28)
