The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount (1) And by the Book Inscribed. (2) In a Scroll unfolded; (3) by the Visited House, (4) And the elevated canopy (5) And the sea kept filled, (6) Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. (7) there is none to avert it. (8) On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side (9) And the mountains will pass on, departing - (10) Then woe that Day to the beliers; (11) Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. (12) The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. (13) and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. (14) Is it magic or do you not still see? (15) Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' (16) Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss (17) rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, (18) Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. (19) They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. (20) And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. (21) And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. (23) ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. (24) They will ask each other questions, (25) saying, "We were afraid while in the world. (26) Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. (27) "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" (28)
