The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 By the House Frequented. 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
