The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (1) And by the Book Inscribed. (2) on unrolled parchment, (3) And [by] the frequented House (4) by the elevated canopy; (5) And the swollen sea (6) the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place (7) there is none who could avert it. (8) A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. (9) and the mountains shudder and shake. (10) Then woe that Day to the beliers; (11) Those who in wading sport themselves. (12) the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: (13) "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! (14) Is this magic, or do you not see? (15) Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." (16) Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, (17) Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. (18) "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." (19) reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. (20) The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. (21) And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: (22) while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, (23) ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. (24) They will turn to one another ask questions, (25) "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- (26) So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. (27) we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' (28)
