The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the Mountain, (1) and by the Book in lines (2) On an open record. (3) by the much-visited House, (4) And [by] the heaven raised high (5) And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). (6) verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, (7) there is none who could avert it. (8) On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, (9) and the mountains shall violently fly about. (10) So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), (11) Who are playing in falsehood. (12) The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. (13) (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. (14) Is it magic or do you not still see? (15) “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” (16) Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, (17) talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. (18) (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." (19) (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. (20) And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. (21) And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire (22) In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. (23) ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. (24) And they will advance unto each other asking questions. (25) Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; (26) "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. (27) Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” (28)
