The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, (1) and a Book inscribed (2) on wide-open scrolls. (3) by the House inhabited (4) Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! (5) And the sea set aflame. (6) verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, (7) there is none to prevent it. (8) On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion (9) and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. (10) So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), (11) Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. (12) The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell (13) "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! (14) What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? (15) Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” (16) Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." (19) They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. (20) To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. (24) And some of them draw near to others, questioning. (25) 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
