The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (of Revelation); (1) And [by] a Book inscribed (2) In parchment unrolled. (3) by the much-frequented House, (4) and by the lofty vault of the sky, (5) and by the swelling ocean, (6) The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. (7) There is none can avert it;- (8) A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. (9) and the mountains quickly move. (10) Will be the day of woe for those (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], (13) "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! (14) Then is this magic, or do you not see? (15) Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." (16) But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, (17) rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. (18) 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. (19) Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. (20) To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. (22) There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, (23) ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. (24) And some of them draw near to others, questioning. (25) Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' (28)
