Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, (1) And the Book written (2) on fine parchment; (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). (5) and by the swelling ocean, (6) Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. (7) and no one will be able to prevent it. (8) The day the sky will tremble, (9) and the mountains shall violently fly about. (10) Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) (11) Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. (12) the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: (13) (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. (14) Is this magic or do you not see? (15) Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". (16) But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. (19) reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. (20) The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. (21) And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. (22) They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. (23) ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. (24) They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. (25) Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” (28)
