49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount; (1) And [by] a Book inscribed (2) in a parchment unrolled, (3) by the established House (Mecca), (4) And the elevated canopy (5) and the sea that is full (6) Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- (7) and no one will be able to prevent it. (8) On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, (9) and the mountains shall violently fly about. (10) Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) (11) Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. (12) the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: (13) This is the fire which you used to deny. (14) Is this magic, or do ye not see? (15) Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” (16) Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' (19) (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. (20) And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. (21) We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. (22) They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. (23) ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. (24) They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). (25) They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). (26) But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. (27) Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
