The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (1) By the book inscribed. (2) In parchment unrolled. (3) And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); (4) and the roof uplifted (5) And the swollen sea, (6) Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls (7) No one can avert it. (8) On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, (9) And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, (10) Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, (11) those who are in plunging, playing. (12) The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], (13) This is the fire which you used to deny. (14) Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! (15) Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. (18) [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, (19) They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. (20) And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. (21) And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. (23) ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. (24) They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, (25) Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: (26) and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; (27) "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." (28)
