The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); (1) and a Book inscribed (2) On an open record. (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) and the roof uplifted (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, (7) there is none who could avert it. (8) On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion (9) and the mountains quickly move. (10) Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth (11) who divert themselves with idle chatter: (12) the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: (13) This is the fire which you used to deny. (14) Is it magic or do you not still see? (15) Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. (16) Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. (17) rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. (18) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." (19) They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. (20) And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. (21) We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. (22) In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. (23) ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. (24) And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. (25) Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; (26) "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. (27) before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
