The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, (1) and by the Scripture penned (2) In a Scroll unfolded; (3) by the established House (Mecca), (4) By the roof elevated. (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: (7) There is none that can avert it; (8) [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, (9) And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). (10) Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers (11) Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. (12) on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. (13) (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. (14) Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? (15) Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. (18) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, (19) They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. (20) And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. (21) And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. (22) They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. (23) ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. (24) They will ask each other questions, (25) Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
