The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount Sinai, (1) And the Scripture inscribed (2) In a Scroll unfolded; (3) by the Visited House, (4) And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). (5) And the sea set aflame. (6) the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place (7) There is none that can avert it; (8) On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, (9) And the mountains will pass on, departing - (10) Then woe that Day to the beliers; (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: (13) “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” (14) Is this magic, or do you not see? (15) Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." (16) Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, (17) talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. (18) 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. (19) They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. (20) To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire (22) They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. (23) ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. (24) And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. (25) saying, "We were afraid while in the world. (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!"
