The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; (1) and the Book inscribed (2) In a Scroll unfolded; (3) by the Visited House, (4) And [by] the heaven raised high (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: (7) There is none that can ward it off. (8) on the Day when the skies are convulsed, (9) The mountains move and fly away, (10) woe that day unto those that cry lies, (11) Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. (12) On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): (13) This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. (14) "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? (15) Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' (16) Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. (17) Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. (18) They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". (19) They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. (20) And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. (21) And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. (22) There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). (23) ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. (24) And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, (25) Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” (28)
