The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, (1) And by the Book Inscribed. (2) On a parchment scroll unrolled, (3) By the much-frequented Fane; (4) And the elevated canopy (5) And the swollen sea (6) Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; (7) there is none who could avert it. (8) On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly (9) and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. (10) Then woe that day unto the deniers (11) those who are in plunging, playing. (12) On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. (13) This is the Fire which you used to belie. (14) Is it magic, or you cannot see? (15) Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". (16) Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, (17) Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. (18) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, (19) Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. (20) And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. (21) And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. (24) They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' (28)
