The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; (1) And by oath of a passage, written (2) On an open record. (3) by the much-frequented House, (4) by the high ceiling (heaven), (5) And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). (6) the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, (7) There is none that can ward it off. (8) On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. (9) And the mountains will pass on, departing - (10) On that Day woe to those who belied (11) Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. (12) The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, (13) This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. (14) Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? (15) Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." (16) Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. (17) Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. (18) [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, (19) Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. (20) And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. (21) And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. (22) There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. (23) ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. (24) And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. (25) They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
