The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); (1) and the Book inscribed (2) on unrolled parchment, (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) and the roof uplifted (5) And [by] the sea filled [with fire], (6) Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. (7) Of it there is no preventer. (8) (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, (9) and the mountains quickly move. (10) Will be the day of woe for those (11) and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). (12) on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] (13) This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. (14) Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? (15) Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” (19) They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. (20) And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. (21) And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. (22) They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. (23) ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. (24) They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (25) Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. (26) But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. (27) Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
