The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount (1) and the Book inscribed (2) In parchment spread open (3) by the established House (Mecca), (4) And the roof exalted, (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; (7) there is no one who could avert it, (8) A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. (9) The mountains move and fly away, (10) Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, (11) Those who sport entering into vain discourses. (12) The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. (13) This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. (14) “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” (15) “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” (16) Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." (19) Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. (20) To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. (24) They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. (27) “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” (28)
