The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! (1) And by oath of a passage, written (2) in a parchment unrolled, (3) by the House inhabited (4) and the uplifted roof (5) And the swollen sea (6) VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: (7) Of it there is no averter. (8) [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, (9) And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). (10) Then woe that day unto the deniers (11) and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). (12) On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. (13) This is the fire which you used to deny. (14) What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? (15) Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. (16) Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, (17) Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. (18) (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' (19) reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. (20) And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. (21) And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, (23) ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. (24) And some of them draw near to others, questioning. (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
