The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the mount (1) and the Book inscribed (2) in a parchment unrolled, (3) By the House Frequented. (4) And the roof exalted, (5) and the sea swarming, (6) VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: (7) There is none that can ward it off. (8) Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily (9) and the mountains are in motion, (10) Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) (11) Those who sport entering into vain discourses. (12) The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. (13) "This is the Fire which you used to deny. (14) Is it magic then or do you not see? (15) Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. (16) Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, (17) Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. (18) "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," (19) The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. (20) Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. (21) We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. (22) There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, (23) ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. (24) They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, (25) Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." (28)
