The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount; (1) and a Book inscribed (2) In parchment spread open (3) And the House frequented, (4) by the high ceiling (heaven), (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls (7) there is no one who could avert it, (8) Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily (9) And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). (10) Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) (11) who divert themselves with idle chatter: (12) On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): (13) (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. (14) Is this magic, or do ye not see? (15) Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' (16) Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. (18) "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." (19) Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. (20) Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. (21) And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. (22) There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). (23) ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. (24) And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, (25) "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- (26) But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. (27) We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. (28)
