The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. (1) And a Scripture inscribed (2) In a Scroll unfolded; (3) And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, (4) By the roof elevated. (5) and the sea swarming, (6) surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; (7) There is none that can ward it off. (8) On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion (9) and the mountains shall violently fly about. (10) So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), (11) Those who are playing in pursuits. (12) The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. (13) This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. (14) What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? (15) Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. (18) "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." (19) Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. (20) And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. (21) We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. (22) There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. (23) ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. (24) They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. (27) We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". (28)
