The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount (1) And a Scripture inscribed (2) In parchment spread open (3) by the House inhabited (4) and the uplifted roof (5) and the sea that is full (6) verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, (7) There is none can avert it;- (8) [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, (9) And the mountains will move with a visible movement. (10) Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth (11) and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). (12) The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], (13) “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” (14) Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! (15) "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." (16) Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, (19) Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. (20) And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. (21) We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. (22) They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. (23) ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. (24) And they will advance unto each other asking questions. (25) "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful.
