The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount; (1) And a Scripture inscribed (2) In parchment unrolled. (3) And [by] the frequented House (4) The roof raised high, (5) And the swollen sea (6) surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, (7) there is none to avert it. (8) On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side (9) and the mountains are in motion, (10) On that Day woe to those who belied (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), (13) This is the fire which you used to deny. (14) Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? (15) Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". (16) Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss (17) Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. (18) Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. (19) reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. (20) And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. (21) And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. (24) And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. (25) saying, "We were afraid while in the world. (26) Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. (27) We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. (28)
