Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? (24) When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. (25) Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. (26) And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" (27) Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. (28) Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." (29) They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. (30) ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" (31) They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, (32) to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. (33) Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." (34) So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. (35) and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims (36) And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. (37) There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. (38) But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." (39) Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. (40) And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: (41) that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. (42) And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" (43) Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding (44) They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. (45) Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. (46)
