Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? (24) When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." (25) He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. (26) and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, (27) Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. (28) His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" (29) They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' (30) ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” (31) They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, (32) So as to let loose clods of clay on them (33) marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” (34) So We brought forth such believers as were in it, (35) but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. (36) and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. (37) And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. (38) But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. (39) We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. (40) And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind (41) It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. (42) And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' (43) But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, (44) So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- (45) And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. (46)
