(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
