Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? (24) When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. (25) So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. (26) And placing it before them said: "Won't you eat?" (27) He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. (28) Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." (29) They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. (30) ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! (31) They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, (32) To send down upon them stones of clay, (33) Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. (34) So We brought out from therein the believers. (35) but We found only one Muslim house. (36) We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, (37) And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, (38) But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." (39) So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. (40) In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, (41) and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. (42) There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” (43) after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: (44) So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. (45) And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. (46)
