(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
