(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? (24) When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. (25) Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, (26) and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, (27) He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. (28) Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" (29) 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' (30) ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” (31) They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals (32) to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. (33) which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." (34) So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. (35) And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. (36) and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. (37) And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. (38) In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” (39) We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. (40) And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. (41) that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. (42) And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" (43) Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. (44) Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. (45) (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. (46)
