Al-Dhaareyaat 2 of 3
Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - (24) When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." (25) Then he went to his home so he brought a healthy calf. (26) and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' (27) He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. (28) Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! (29) They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." (30) ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' (31) They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, (32) To send down upon them stones of baked clay. (33) They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". (34) Then we brought forth such believers as were there. (35) But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). (36) And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. (37) And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. (38) But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. (39) So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. (40) And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: (41) It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. (42) And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" (43) after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: (44) And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. (45) [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. (46)
