Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? (24) When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). (25) Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf (26) and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, (27) And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. (28) So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” (29) They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” (30) ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' (31) They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, (32) that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones (33) Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. (34) So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, (35) And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. (36) And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. (37) And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. (38) But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. (39) So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. (40) In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, (41) It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. (42) And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," (43) But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; (44) Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. (45) And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. (46)
