AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? (24) When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." (25) Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf (26) And placed it before them.. he said, "Will ye not eat?" (27) And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. (28) Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! (29) They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" (30) ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" (31) They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, (32) "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), (33) which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." (34) Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, (35) And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. (36) and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. (37) And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. (38) Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. (39) So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. (40) And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind (41) Which turned everything it touched to ashes. (42) There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. (43) But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. (44) And neither stand up nor defend themselves. (45) And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. (46)
