AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? (24) When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". (25) Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf (26) And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? (27) [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. (28) Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' (29) They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' (30) ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" (31) They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” (32) to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. (33) They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". (34) So We brought out from therein the believers. (35) We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. (36) And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. (37) As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. (38) But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." (39) We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. (40) And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: (41) It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. (42) And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. (43) But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. (44) Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. (45) [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. (46)
