Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those which carry away while dispersing. (1) then the bearers of weight (the clouds), (2) Then those (ships) that glide easily, (3) and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! (4) Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. (5) and the recompense shall surely happen. (6) By the heaven with its numerous forms: (7) Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). (8) and perverted therefrom are some. (9) They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain (10) who flounder in the depths of ignorance. (11) They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? (12) It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned (13) Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. (14) Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. (15) enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: (16) they used to sleep but little by night, (17) And in the morning they asked forgiveness. (18) They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. (19) On the earth, and in yourselves, (20) And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? (21) In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. (22) So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. (23)
