Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds that scatter the dust, (1) and the burden-bearers (2) by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, (3) and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): (4) Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. (5) and, verily, judgment is bound to come! (6) And by oath of the decorated heaven. (7) Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). (8) Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. (9) Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. (10) Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. (11) asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' (12) On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, (13) "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" (14) Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. (15) Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). (16) They slept but a little at night, (17) And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, (18) and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. (19) On the earth, and in yourselves, (20) And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? (21) And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. (22) So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. (23)
