Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. (1) and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] (2) And the ships that glide with ease. (3) by the angels which distribute the affairs, (4) What you are threatened with is most surely true, (5) And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. (6) By the heaven full of paths, (7) Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: (8) Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. (9) Perish will those who just guess and speculate, (10) they who blunder along, in ignorance lost (11) They ask: When is the day of judgment? (12) [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, (13) (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” (14) Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. (15) enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: (16) sleeping little in the night-time, (17) And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. (18) And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. (19) AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, (20) just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? (21) In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). (22) Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. (23)
