Q (Qaaf)
45 verses, revealed in Mecca after Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat) before The Town (Al-Balad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Qaf. By the glorious Qur'an. (1) Rather they were shocked that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves, so the disbelievers said, “This is something really strange.” (2) "What! When we die and become dust, (shall we live again?) That is a (sort of) return far (from our understanding)." (3) We know that which the earth takes of them (their dead bodies), and with Us is a Book preserved (i.e. the Book of Decrees). (4) Nay, but they cried lies to the truth when it came to them, and so they are in a case confused. (5) So did they not see the sky above them how We have made it and beautified it, and there are no cracks in it? (6) We stretched the earth and placed upon it firm stabilisers and We made every kind of splendid thing to grow upon it (7) as a lesson and reminder for every human being who turns to God; (8) We sent down blessed water from the sky with which We caused gardens and the grains of harvest to grow, (9) And lofty palm trees having fruit arranged in layers - (10) as a provision for human beings; and by [all] this We bring dead land to life. Such shall be the Resurrection. (11) In the past Noah's people, and the people of Rass and Thamud gave the lie (to Messengers), (12) And (the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh, and the brethren of Lot, (13) And the dwellers of the grove and the people of Tuba; all rejected the apostles, so My threat came to pass. (14) Did We fail to accomplish the first creation? Of course, We did not; We have all power over all things. Yet they are confused about a new creation. (15)
