Q (Qaaf)
45 verses, revealed in Mecca after Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat) before The Town (Al-Balad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Qaf. By the Glorious Qur'an, (1) In fact, it seems odd (to the pagans) that a warner from their own people has come to them. The disbelievers have said, "It is very strange (2) to come back to life after we have died and become dust? That is most improbable!" (3) We know what the earth diminishes of them; with Us is a book recording. (4) They gave the lie to the Truth when it came to them. So they are now in a state of great perplexity. (5) Have they not looked up to the heaven above them, in what wise We have constructed and bedecked it, and that therein is no rift? (6) And the earth have We spread out, and have flung firm hills therein, and have caused of every lovely kind to grow thereon, (7) An insight and a Reminder for every slave turning to Allah (i.e. the one who believes in Allah and performs deeds of His obedience, and always begs His pardon). (8) And We send down from the skies water rich in blessings, and cause thereby gardens to grow, and fields of grain, (9) and tall palm-trees with their thickly-clustered spathes; (10) A provision for (Allah's) slaves. And We give life therewith to a dead land. Thus will be the resurrection (of the dead). (11) [Long] before those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people give the lie to this truth, and [so did] the folk of Ar-Rass, and [the tribes of] Thamud (12) And Ad and Firon and Lut's brethren, (13) and the people of Aykah, and the people of Tubba'. They all gave the lie to the Messengers. Thereafter My threat of chastisement against them was fulfilled. (14) Were We then weary with the first Creation, that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation? (15)
