Victory (Al-Fatt-h)
29 verses, revealed in Medina after Friday (Al-Jumu'ah) before The Feast (Al-Maa 'edah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We have indeed, for your sake (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), bestowed a clear victory. (1) that Allah forgives your past and future sins, and completes His Favor to you, and guides you on a Straight Path, (2) and [show] that God will succour thee with [His] mighty succour. (3) It is God who has given confidence to the hearts of the believers to increase and strengthen their faith. To God belongs the armies of the heavens and the earth. He is All-knowing and All-wise. (4) That He may bring the believing men and the believing women into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide, and may remit from them their evil deeds - That, in the sight of Allah, is the supreme triumph - (5) And may punish the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women, and the idolatrous men and the idolatrous women, who think an evil thought concerning Allah. For them is the evil turn of fortune, and Allah is wroth against them and hath cursed them, and hath made ready for them hell, a hapless journey's end. (6) To Allah belong the armies of the heavens and the earth. Allah is the Almighty and the Wise. (7) VERILY, [O Muhammad,] We have sent thee as a witness [to the truth,] and as a herald of glad tidings and a warner (8) That ye may believe in Allah and His apostle, and may assist Him and honour Him, and may hallow Him at dawn and evening. (9) Those who swear allegiance to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), do indeed in fact swear allegiance to Allah; Allah's Hand* of Power is above their hands; so whoever breaches his oath, has breached his own greater promise; and whoever fulfils the covenant he has with Allah so very soon Allah will bestow upon him a great reward. (Used as a metaphor.) (10)
