Juz 26
Victory (Al-Fatt-h)
29 verses, revealed in Medina after Friday (Al-Jumu'ah) before The Feast (Al-Maa 'edah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Surely We have given thee a manifest victory, (1) That Allah may forgive your community their past faults and those to follow and complete His favor to you and keep you on a right way, (2) and that Allah may bestow upon you a mighty help. (3) He it is Who bestowed inner peace on the hearts of the believers so that they may grow yet more firm in their faith. To Allah belong the legions of the heavens and the earth; Allah is All-Knowing, Most Wise. (4) That He may admit the believing men and the believing women to Gardens under which rivers flow (i.e. Paradise), to abide therein forever, and to expiate from them their sins, and that is with Allah, a supreme success, (5) so that He would punish the hypocrites and the pagans who have evil suspicions about God. It is they who are surrounded by evil and have become subject to the wrath and condemnation of God. He has prepared for them hell, a terrible place to live. (6) And to Allah only belong the armies of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is Most Honourable, Wise. (7) Verily We! We have sent thee as a witness and a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. (8) So that (men) may believe in God and His Apostle, and honour Him and revere Him, and sing His praises morning and evening. (9) Those who swear allegiance to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), do indeed in fact swear allegiance to Allah; Allah's Hand* of Power is above their hands; so whoever breaches his oath, has breached his own greater promise; and whoever fulfils the covenant he has with Allah so very soon Allah will bestow upon him a great reward. (Used as a metaphor.) (10)
