59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. (1) By the manifest Book (this Quran) that makes things clear, (2) We have indeed sent it down in a blessed night indeed it is We Who warn. (3) Therein is decreed every affair of wisdom (4) The command that We have been sending (5) A mercy from thy Lord. Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. (6) Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you are certain (of your faith). (7) There is no god but He: He gives life and causes death. He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore. (8) yet, they toy with their doubts. (9) So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, (10) which will smother the people. They will say, "This is a painful torment. (11) Thereupon they will say, “O our Lord! Remove the punishment from us we now accept faith.” (12) How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), (13) Yet they turned away from him and said: one tutored, one distraced. (14) We now remove the punishment for some days so you will again commit the same. (15) on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! (16) ۞ We tried Pharaoh's nation before them. A noble Messenger came to them, (17) (saying:) 'Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger. (18) And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority. (19) I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me. (20) “And if you do not believe in me, then have no relation with me.” (21) But then, [when they beset him with their enmity,] he called out to his Sustainer, "These are [indeed] people lost in sin!" (22) God said, "Set out with My servants by night, for you will certainly be pursued. (23) “And leave the sea as it is, parted in several places; indeed that army will be drowned.” (24) They left - how many! of gardens and springs. (25) And the cornlands and the goodly sites (26) and good things in which they took delight. (27) Even so; and We caused to inherit them another people. (28) Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. (29)
