Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
89 verses, revealed in Mecca after Consultation (Al-Shooraa) before Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. (1) I call to witness the lucent Book, (2) Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. (3) And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. (4) Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? (5) And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. (6) Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. (7) and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. (8) And indeed if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them." (9) [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided (10) And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; (11) And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. (12) that you may be seated on their backs and then remember your Lord's blessing when you are seated on them, and say, 'Glory be to Him, who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not equal to it; (13) And surely to our Lord we must return. (14) But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. (15)
