Juz 25
Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
89 verses, revealed in Mecca after Consultation (Al-Shooraa) before Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) By oath of the clear Qur’an. (2) We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. (3) Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. (4) Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? (5) And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. (6) And whenever any Prophet came to them, they only mocked at him. (7) So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. (8) And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” (9) He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; (10) That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- (11) it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon (12) so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. (13) surely unto our Lord we are turning.' (14) The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. (15)
