The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
200 verses, revealed in Medina after The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal) before The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. (1) Allah There is no god but He, the Living, the Sustainer. (2) He has sent down upon thee the Book with the truth, confirming what was before it, and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel (3) aforetime, as a guidance unto mankind, and it is He who has bestowed [upon man] the standard by which to discern the true from the false. Behold, as for those who are bent on denying God's messages - grievous suffering awaits them: for God is almighty, an avenger of evil. (4) From Allah, verily nothing is hidden on earth or in the heavens. (5) It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (6) He has sent down this Book which contains some verses that are categorical and basic to the Book, and others allegorical. But those who are twisted of mind look for verses metaphorical, seeking deviation and giving to them interpretations of their own; but none knows their meaning except God; and those who are steeped in knowledge affirm: "We believe in them as all of them are from the Lord." But only those who have wisdom understand. (7) “Our Lord! Do not deviate our hearts after You have guided us, and bestow mercy on us from Yourself; indeed You only are the Great Bestower.” (8) You will gather mankind together, O Lord, on a day that is certain to come, and God does not fail in His promise. (9)
