Forgiver (Ghaafer)
85 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Throngs (Al-Zumer) before Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ha. Mim. 1 The revelation of the Scripture is from Allah, the Mighty, the Knower, 2 The Forgiver of the faults and the Acceptor of repentance, Severe to punish, Lord of bounty; there is no god but He; to Him is the eventual coming. 3 None but the unbelievers dispute regarding the Signs of Allah. So let not their strutting about in the land delude you. 4 The people of Nuh and the parties after them rejected (prophets) before them, and every nation purposed against their apostle to destroy him, and they disputed by means of the falsehood that they might thereby render null the truth, therefore I destroyed them; how was then My retribution! 5 Thus has the decree of your Lord become due against the unbelievers. They are destined for the Fire. 6 The angels that bear the Throne and those that are around to extol your Lord's glory with His praise, they believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for the believers, saying: “Our Lord! You encompass everything with Your Mercy and Knowledge. So forgive those that repent and follow Your Path, and guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 7 “O Our Lord! And admit them into the Gardens of everlasting stay which you have promised them, and those who are virtuous among their forefathers and their wives and their offspring; indeed You only are the Most Honourable, the Wise.” 8 Lord, keep them away from evil deeds. Whomever You have saved from evil on the Day of Judgment has certainly been granted Your mercy and this is the greatest triumph. 9
