Forgiver (Ghaafer)
85 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Throngs (Al-Zumer) before Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Ha Mim. (1) THE BESTOWAL from on high of this divine writ issues from God, the Almighty, the All-Knowing, (2) forgiving sins and accepting repentance, severe in retribution, limitless in His bounty. There is no deity save Him: with Him is all journeys' end. (3) No one disputes the revelations of the Lord except the disbelievers. Let not their activities in the land deceive you. (4) The people of Nuh and the parties after them rejected (prophets) before them, and every nation purposed against their apostle to destroy him, and they disputed by means of the falsehood that they might thereby render null the truth, therefore I destroyed them; how was then My retribution! (5) Thus has the word of your Lord come true against the deniers; they shall be the inmates of the Fire. (6) Those* who bear the Throne, and those who are around it, say the Purity of their Lord while praising Him, and they believe in Him and seek forgiveness for the believers; “O Our Lord! Your mercy and knowledge encompass all things, therefore forgive those who repented and followed Your path, and save them from the punishment of hell.” (* The angels.) (7) Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (8) And guard them against evil deeds; whomsoever Thou guardest against evil deeds on that day, on him Thou hast had mercy; and that is indeed the mighty triumph. (9)
