Forgiver (Ghaafer)
85 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Throngs (Al-Zumer) before Elucidated (Fussilat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Ha. Mim. (1) The revelation of this Book is from Allah, Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge,- (2) forgiving sins and accepting repentance, severe in retribution, limitless in His bounty. There is no deity save Him: with Him is all journeys' end. (3) None dispute concerning the revelations of Allah save those who disbelieve, so let not beguile thee their going about in the cities. (4) The people of Noah and later factions also rejected the truth and every community plotted against the messenger sent to them, aiming to lay hands on him, and they contended [against his message] with fallacious arguments, so that they might defeat the truth, therefore I seized them. How terrible was My punishment. (5) And thus shall thy Sustainer's word come true against all who are bent on denying the truth: they shall find themselves in the fire [of hell]. (6) Those who bear the Throne and those around it exalt with the praise of their Lord and believe in Him. They ask forgiveness for the believers (saying): 'Our Lord, You embrace all things in mercy and knowledge. Forgive those who repent and follow Your Way. Shield them against the punishment of Hell. (7) Lord, admit them and their fathers, spouses, and offspring who have reformed themselves to the gardens of Eden which You have promised them. You are Majestic and All-wise. (8) “And save them from the evil consequences of sins; and whomever You save from the evil consequences of sins on that Day so You have indeed had mercy upon him; and this only is the greatest success.” (9)
