S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. I swear by the Quran, which is full of reminders of God, (that you are a Messenger). (1) But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. (2) How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' (3) They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. (4) “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” (5) A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. (6) We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: (7) To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! (8) Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? (9) Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! (10) A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. (11) The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. (12) Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. (13) None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. (14)
