S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. (1) But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. (2) Many a generation We did destroy before them thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! (3) And they marvel that a warner from among themselves hath come unto them, and the disbelievers say: This is a wizard, a charlatan. (4) Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." (5) The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. (6) We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: (7) What, out of all of us, has the Remembrance been sent down to him (Prophet Muhammad)' No, they are doubtful about My Remembrance, no, they have not yet tasted My punishment. (8) Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? (9) Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! (10) But there - will be put to flight even a host of confederates. (11) Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, (12) and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. (13) None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. (14)
